Valley United Tryouts

Valley United

Valley United is a travel program serving boys and girls from the U11 through U19 age groups in the Roanoke Valley. Within the club’s mission of providing "Soccer for All", our travel program represents the highest levels of player development and competition. The primary focus of this program is to help young people develop as leaders in their school and community.

The Valley United travel program features a professional coaching staff with experience playing and teaching the game. Our development model guides players through an approach to the game that progresses through the concepts and principles of the game at each level of play from 5v5 at the youngest ages to 11v11 at U13 and above. Every player in the travel is expected to have the opportunity to play at the high school, collegiate or professional level.

Our travel teams are selected based on ability level after a tryout process. Valley United competes in the Skyline Premier League, which includes clubs from the Charlottesville/Harrisonburg areas to the north, Martinsville/Danville areas to the south, as well as the New River Valley to the west and Lynchburg to the east. This league provides appropriate competition levels for first, second, and third level teams. All Valley United teams participate in tournaments during their season in addition to league play.

The highest performers in the Valley United boys travel program will have opportunities to train and play with the D.C. United Academy, which plays in the MLS Next league and competitions. These competitions represent the highest level of youth soccer in the country. From there, players who excel could have the opportunity to play professionally with Loudoun United in the USL Championship and with D.C. United in Major League Soccer.

The highest performers in the Valley United girls program will have similar opportunities with Metro United. Metro United participates in the Girls Academy League, the leading development platform for the top youth female players in the country.
